Petersen
It mentioned in the article that she started writing this in her College Writing II class. Why is that class so important? I am going to explain why it is important to learn college writing. College Writing is very important toward learning to succeed in a profession. A wide variety of career fields will require employees to frequently express their thoughts and information through writing. Tasks that may be required in the workplace include memos, reports and detailed reviews. Whether the aspiring professional knows it or not, most career fields will require writing as a form of communication, and if the skill of college writing is mastered, effectively expressing thoughts in an organized manner becomes much easier. Also important is having a broad vocabulary. A broad vocabulary is an essential component of writing fluidly and as a student learns college writing, he or she will inevitably expand his or her vocabulary. As follows, a stronger vocabulary equates with better communication skills and more confidence when speaking. Learning college writing is important to a career in more ways. Certain careers require students to learn different styles of writing and students will generally learn to write the various types of documents respective to the major they are studying. Learning college writing is important to a career in a variety of ways. College writing improves students ability to express themselves formally on paper and as a result, will often improve their ability to communicate their thoughts verbally. Writing and good writing skills are necessary in almost every career field, regardless of how thorough it may be. In college, students are equipped to write in the style necessary to their chosen professions. Refining the writing skills learned in college will set students up for success in the workforce as they gain confidence in writing and speaking. Revisualizing Composition
to me sending text messages, emails, or comments is a type of writing. I mean you are just typing out what you want to say so of course that has to be a type of writing. any type of communicaton that deals with typing or writing anything out is definetly type of writing and it will also help you you. Text messaging is currently one of the more popular, with
billions of estimated users worldwide. Given this popularity, many
educators and parents have started to let there kids use it more often because it helps educate them and it also benefits any
education to incorporating texting in the classroom. Texting and “text speak” can be used to help build foundational reading skills, such as word recognition and phonological awareness. It can also be used to generate discussions around formal and informal language and writing for different tasks, audiences, and purposes, all of which are necessary skills for meeting College and Career Readiness Standards in reading, writing, language, and speaking and listening. Although it may not seem like it, texting is writing, and students who are frequent texters are therefore frequent writers. As such, it makes sense to harness all of this energy to help your students build their writing skill.

Writing and Technology
Technology really helps students these days. It helps the student research for their paper. It also helps people practice their writing skills. Good writing is a very important to your future if you want to be successful. Teens are motivated to do better if they have an interesting topic to write about. This article is giving information from a survey or interview about how teens and students write and using technology to do their writing. It is also saying that the internet is the number one primary source to use when writing a paper. They mention in the article that text messaging and communication over the internet is not in any way writing. In my mind i think it is because you are still writing but you are typing it out. It is just like writing a paper then getting on your lap top and writing it out. There is not a lot of differences to it. I mean i can see where there is a difference but it basically the same thing. Text messaging, i guess, has its own language. People have came up with different abbriviations for different words, such as you is "u" and to, too, and two is "2". That is where the author of the article is saying text messaging and internet communication is different. Students who learn how to write better in school, it will have a major improvement on future writing and will be extremely benefit anyone in their future. Parents encourage their kids to use the computer to do research when writing. It can help you find benefitual information.

comparing writing process
Me and Austin have some similarties and some differences.
When he starts to write he likes to listen to music. I can not listen to music
just because It really distrats me and I just can not stay focused at all. I
have to be isolated and have to be very quite. We both just being to type away
and just go with the flow when we begin to write our paper. He uses some thing
called pages while I am over here using Microsoft word because I find it a lot
better than the pages he uses. It comes with a lot of accessories. He starts on
a paper the day before its due and I start on it about 3 days before its due so
I know I have enough time to type it and get al my ideas together for the
paper. We both like to be in our room
and do our paper cause we like to be isolated from everyone and everything so
we do not get easily distracted by the little things. We both like to have the
Tv on. We both preferred a sports. He wanted nascar on and I wanted baseball on
just because it eases our minds when we write and it helps us concentrate. We
both also like to take our time when we write a paper. He has three rough
drafts that he does and I only have like 1 unless you count the final draft
that would make it 2. We both are very good very good at using descriptive
writing. we can takes peoples mind on a complete journey and they would be
satisfied on what they had just read. We both like to eat a lot of junk food
when we write because it helps us write a lot better when we are not hungry.

Murry
1. They were very impressive. They were also
different, that is what I like about his writing process. It is totally
different then a lot of people that write. I liked how he took his time. When
people take there time on a writing process, there writing tend to be really
good. Well he does a lot different then me, so there aren’t a lot of
similarities between him and me. There are a lot of differences. I like to just
start writing and just go with the flow.
It really helps me and I write a
lot better and my papers are very good.
3. He learns a better way of writing. He learned the
ways of the writing process and helped him how to really be dedicated to his
writings. Be devoted to what you are writing will always help you become a
better writer.
5. It really confused me. I don’t understand why he
did that. I mean I guess it helped him, but I just don’t agree with it. It did
give a lot of helpful info though. They had really good comparing and contrast
and that gave a lot of information. I mean some of it was very irrelvent. People
do not need to know any of that. People do not care, so do not include that in
anything. It did catch me by surprise because I did not know some of those
things they talked about in that I did not know. It was a good idea to include
those things.

My Writing Process
When I write I do a
lot of weird things. I tend to just be in my own happy place, just like in the
movie happy Gilmore. I always come up with a good thesis statement. I come up
with great ideas and plug them into my writing. I like to be in my room all alone
because when I am alone I come up with better ideas and my writings are a lot
better. I also like to have a dictionary by my side so I can get better words
in my writings. I like to just start writing away. After I do that I go back
and see what I have repeated and I will begin to write something different. I
like to have all my paper work by me so I know what exactly what to write. I
normally just go start writing and never really plan out what I am going to
write because I just do better that way and come up with everything else easier
like that. It helps me to stay on point and not get off point. It also helps me
by just going with the flow and I know exactly what I am writing. I always do a
“shitty first draft” then I am off to my final paper. Rough draft helps me realize
my mistakes that I have made and I go back and add or subtract anything that
does not belong. I like to lay on my bed with baseball or basketball on, this
really helps me write a lot better then just sitting in a room with nothing in
it. I also like to have some music going because when I have music going It is like waking up my brain
and brain is on point with what I need to write. it helps me write a lot better
then I would normally do. I also like to eat chips and dip when I write, it
helps me come up with better facts.

Writing Process of Famous Author
Gillian Flynn is a
very unusual writer. When people write, well at least me, I like to be alone
and very isolated from people so I do not get distracted. She sits a computer
and just starts typing what is on her mind. She then puts everything she types
into a story. I do not know how people can just do that, especially her. To top
that, she drinks coffee. If I drank coffee I would be trying to go to sleep
because coffee works vise versa on me, so it would not help my writing process
at all. She also just starts writing for a long time, such as hours and hours,
and sometimes days. She likes to write a about dark things. I am not a horrid
type individual, I just normally stick to sport and comedy and action books
because they give me the most interest and I do not get bored with them at all.
She listens to music to get ideas to write about. She comprehends the music
writes down what the song is mainly about and turns that into one of her main
ideas or a main plot. She also reads other books to get ideas, as if she was taking
or cheating to get a better outlook on her book. In, all she is a very gifted
writer, who takes very good time to do her writings. She is well dedicated and
has achieved a lot from doing so. One last thing, she likes to play video
games, so she can write really good action books. She plays like GTA or James
Bond. She likes those kind of games, so she plays them so she can get some type
of idea on what to write about.
Sommers
1.
understanding vocabulary is very important to
the English society. Having a big understanding of vocabulary and advanced
terms can get you far in life. She is
saying that if you understand vocabulary, reading will become more clear and comprehendible
to the person that is trying to read.
3. to
me, writing and speech are a like. The difference is the way you use words when
you write and talk. People can have a excellent writing qualities, but when it
comes to talking they use a lot of slang. When writing a paper or something they
teach you not to use slang cause it is not correct.
5.
when people begin to write, they can
lose focus on what they write about. They lose site on what the main focus is
and what they are trying to explain or tell the reader. People will begin to talk about different
things as they write, such as they will get off topic or just completely change
the subject.
7.
revising is a big step in the writing process. You always want to go back and
change what you have done incorrect. You want to improve on those mistakes and
make it a lot better to gain the readers attention and make sure they have a
great time reading the book.

Review of Literacty Narritive
I would change a lot to my paper. I mean I thought it was a
very well prepared and written paper. It was very organize, but I wish I could
have gave the reader more of an imagination wonder. I really did not put enough
effort as I wanted because I really did not know what to say in my narrative. I
would had taken my time on it a lot more and put more into it. I would had made it a lot longer with a lot
more words. I would had talked more about my life and how I learned how to read
and write. I would had used more advanced vocabulary to get me to sound more of
a professional write, so it would look like a legit paper. I also would had
told the story about the time when I was learning big vocabulary words and we
had to write a huge paper and we had to use every single one of them. It was
not fun at all cause I barely knew what they meant so I really did not know
where to correctly used them at. I would
have defiantly gotten the readers interest more. I do not know how I would, but
I would have. I also would have been organized with my paper. I felt like it
was all nasty as in It wasn’t very well organized. I do not know how to explain
it. I also would have been more into it. I would have made it a lot more interesting
then it was.

Murry and Strasser
2. Donald Murry says
an autobiography is all of which contain traces of their creators. There is
autobiographical language. He also says that all writings, in different ways,
is autobiographical. Autobiography’s are set down into our past. Autobiography
is not always detailed or it does not have to be. Some autobiography’s do not
have to be the truth. An autobiography can be just what you think about life
itself.
5. My mindset would be a lot different then it is now. I
would definitely have a bigger mindset about how the way I would write an
autobiography. In some ways it would have an affect on the way I write, but it
would not be a lot.
6. My last paper I just wrote would be consider an
autobiography. I wrote about my life in school. I wrote about myself, it was
basically about my childhood.
1. You must learn how to write
good and be very good at it. I do agree with this. People can say they are a
good persuasive writer, but are they really? You must prove to people you are
by writing a well educated persuasive paper. You must practice by writing
different types of papers on which the subject is what you really do not want
to write about.
2. People have their own opinions. Strasser must clearly see
something can change. If you decide to write about whatever you want, it could
lead to pointless writing and the reader will get very bored and will not want
to read anymore of the writing. It would also teach pointless papers for people
to write about. Nobody wants to write a pointless paper that they actually took
time to do.
3. Going to school can change a persons. The way they see
things; they start to see things a lot differently. It can definitely change
someone’s spirit. A person could be happy and joyful, then the next thing you
know they are sad and depress. That will make a person write a paper totally
different then the would at first. Now body, I have no idea. I mean, I guess it
could in way, I just do not have a reason for it.

Childhood Reading
As a kid, I did not really have a favorite book. When I got
into the 10th grade is when I found my favorite book and it was The
Hunger Games. I did not want to read this book at all because I have never
really wanted to read. When we started reading it, it started off great and it
caught my attention. This book was extraordinary good. It was about this country,
who was divided into districts. The main character was Katniss and Peta. They
were both chosen to fight for their district in the Hunger Games. I say they
were both chosen, but Katniss volunteered for her sister because she got
chosen, and Katniss did not want her sister to go. Katniss goes into the Hunger
Games only knowing how to shoot a bow, and Peta is going in only knowing how to
camoflaudge himself, and he is very strong. They go into the games as partners,
they work together to stay alive. They put on a show for the whole country
acting like they are in love with each other, but Peta becomes emotionally
attached to Katniss while she has a fling going on with a guy back in district
11. They start fighting and what not, and Katniss becomes friends with this
very small black girl from another district. Fast forwarding, the small black
girl gets killed and Katniss holds up 3 fingers for “peace” and it starts a lot
of chaos. Later in the book, it comes down to Katniss and Peta to win. They
both do not want to kill each other, so they both decide that they were going
to commit suicide until they stop the game and say they both win. This started
a whole new complication. This book really motivated me to read more books. It also
told me to judge a book by its cover, even If I do not want to read it. This is
my favorite book that I have ever read, from kindergarten through out my middle
and high school stages of my life. I highly recommend this book.

Villanueva
1.
1. I
have been taught, when writing a paper never to change point of views. The
shifting of this causes the reader to see different viewpoints on what the
writer is writing about. Going back and forth on viewpoints can be very
confusing also to the reader. It also shows different types of writing points
of view also. I have also been taught to not use “I” all the time because it
does not sound good and it is too much repetition. When writing a paper you
should stick with only one type of point of view and you should not use
multiple point of views.
2.
2. Villanueva defines rhetoric as persuasive way
of speaking and/or writing. He also says studying rhetoric is also the way of
studying humans. He says “studying rhetoric is complete study of
language”. Villanueva also defines
rhetoric as the conscious use of language. If you want to learn about how
humans function and how they socialize with people and other things, learning
rhetoric is the way of doing that, as in psychology, history, philosophy, and
much more. Language is a huge key in learning and understanding rhetoric. If
you want to learn how to write and read language is the one of the main factors
of accomplishing that.
3. I
have always tried to look at someone else’s writing and try into making it into
my own words. It is not an easy process of doing. If you want to imitate
someone’s writing you must know how to put it into your own words. That being
said, it is not easy at all putting it into your own words. You have to really
sit down and think how you are going to re-word it. Just like Villanueva did,
he would watch “I Love Lucy” and stare (which in my mind he was
brainstorming). He was thinking of what
and how he was going to write his paper.
4. When
he stops doing what he is doing and just stares, I feel like he is thinking of
what he wants to write about. In my mind, he is doing some type of
brainstorming. I will sit there and think, think about all the things I can
write about then I will go watch TV. It wouldn’t all come to me right at the
time. I would have to do homework or go shoot basketball and just think about
what I want to write about. Thinking about what you want to write does not come
to you all at once. You have to sit down and actually put things together and
think about for a good time. That is only if you want a good paper. Mentally thinking is the key of writing a
very good paper.

Skills to be Learned
There are a lot of skills that I am not very good
at. There are some on the list that I am very unfamiliar with too. I need to
improve on some of the skills on the list as well as get better at using them
too.
Writing longer papers is an issue I have today. I can
never think about a lot to write about. I always tend to repeat myself when I start
to run out of things to say, to make my paragraph longer. I would like to start
writing long papers, so I can look really professional because to me people,
who can write long papers, are very successful in life.
I want to get better at knowing what to do when I get
stuck. I always get stuck at writing a paper. Its like I forget what I am
writing about or I just simply do not have anything else to write about. It gets
really annoying when you are writing such a good paper and you simply just run
out of things to talk about. I waste precious time thinking what to I am going
to write next when I am stuck. I would like to get better at this, so I can
save time and not get stuck in the middle of my paper.
I’m good at understand the difference between
revising and editing, but I want to get a better understanding of the two. I always
used to say they are the same meaning, but now I found out they are not. If I get
a understanding of the two, I will be able to go back and fix my mistakes
better, and also have a better organized and understandable paper. If I know how to do both of these skills, this
will help me a lot with editing my papers.
Understanding plagiarism has to be at the top of becoming
better at. If I learn to read something of the internet and be able to turn it
into my own words it would become more helpful to me. I tend to just copy and
paste cause the teacher never really checks for it, but I want to be able to
write something from my own thoughts and what not. It would not only help me a
lot but also make me feel more confident in my writing skills.
Learning how to use different tones and voices would
be a major increase of my writing skills. I really do not know how to write in
different tones or voices, but I feel like if I learned how to do that, it
would make my papers sound a lot better and more interesting. It would a
skillful thing to learn how to do.
